Local Company Finds Success with Help from Pasco EDC’s SMARTstart Program

Lutz, Fla. (June 16, 2016) — On May 31, members of the Greater Dade City and Greater Wesley Chapel Chambers of Commerce gathered to celebrate the success of SMARTstart Pasco Incubator member, Thomas Giella of Gear Spinners, with a ribbon cutting and open house event at Gear Spinners’ new office in Lutz, Florida.

Giella, launched his business in September 2014 with help from the Pasco Economic Development Council’s SMARTstart entrepreneur programs when he became a member of the SMARTstart Dade City Incubator.  During his time as an on-site member of the incubator, Giella received access to office space as well as mentorship and coaching to help accelerate his growth.  A year later, he participated in the inaugural session of CO.STARTERS, an educational course offered through the SMARTstart program, which enabled him to identify and evaluate new service lines for his company.

By moving into the new office in Wesley Chapel, Giella was afforded the space he needed to add those additional services to his company, making Gear Spinners a well-rounded provider of information technology services in the east Pasco County market.  In addition to the affordable website design he has been offering since the foundation of Gear Spinners, Giella has added two new divisions of the company—Complete I.T., which offers computer repair and network infrastructure, and Tampa Bay Installs, providing audio/visual installation for commercial and residential projects.

Giella plans to continue with the SMARTstart program as an off-site member of the Dade City incubator and is hoping to expand into Land O’ Lakes and New Port Richey as well as continuing to build on the company’s presence in both Dade City and Lutz.
